What Perfectionism Really Looks Like

I’m guessing you’re a “do-er.”

I’m a do-er too. I put something on my list, and bam – next thing you know, it’s done.

That’s why I was pretty surprised to realize I’d been swimming in perfectionism for oh I don’t know…. 6 months?

Six or seven months ago I got to work creating a new website. My company hadn’t had a new website in 6 years.

I was excited, motivated, eager. Until I wasn’t.

Months creeped by where I didn’t even glance at this project.

I had other priorities, and kept moving it down the list.

I had to finally be honest with myself and wonder why this project wasn’t finished.

The truth was: I wanted it to be worded, designed, executed perfectly.

And that desire for perfect kept it from ever being finished.

See, perfectionism often doesn’t look the way we think it will.

In reality, it looks like:

Waiting.

Thinking about it.

Planning (and planning, and planning).

Moving it to next week.

You’ll especially know its perfectionism rearing its head when it feels like a risk to move forward without things feeling ‘just right’.

My brand new website – this, that you’re reading right here, right now! – is now live.

It’s fantastic, strong, here to serve my people, and so me.

And it’s imperfect.

And in its imperfection, it’ll reach so many people.

This is your nudge to call out your own perfectionism that’s been rearing it’s head and go create, launch, post or share something powerful and imperfect.

What’s done and flawed is 10,000x more impactful for you and others than whatever’s sitting in the Drafts section of your mind.

Do the thing . You’re ready now.

PS. I’m thrilled to share what clients have said about working together all across this website. On most pages, you’ll find their words and how this work has impacted them.

If you know that confidence and a deeply regulated nervous system will help you in your work or business right now so that you can show up the way you want,  book a complimentary consult call with me to explore coaching options. I can help you too.
